Borough Coastcarers: Help restore natural habitat

Become a Borough Coastcarer and help us remove invaisve weeds from natural habitats! You will be guided by conservation staff members at two locations within the Borough of Queenscliffe. Friends of Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk

Join this new 'Friends of' group at Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk (formerly the Bellarine Basin) to help restore this new reserve. The group will meet on the first Wednesday of each month from 10am - 12pm to participate in weeding, revegetation, citizen science and education.

Greater Geelong Plastic Pollution Count

Join the world's largest plastic pollution citizen science survey lead by the prestigious CSIRO Marine Debris Team and facilitated by Bellarine Catchment Network across Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula. This program helps us better understand the sources, movement, distribution and impacts our waste can have. Email info@bcn.org.au to register.

Clean Up Days

We occasionally run clean up days to get people outdoors cleaning up our coastline. These mostly revolve around Clean Up Australia Day every March, however this is a great activity for businesses who would like to find a corporate volunteering opportunity. Community Environment Days

We run multiple Community Environment Days throughout the year, mostly in Autumn and Winter. We focus on activities like revegetation, litter removal, flora and fauna education and weeding. Events Volunteer

We work with over 20 schools in Geelong and the Bellarine each year to deliver tailored 'Environment Days', as well as running of bush regeneration events and community education days. Volunteering to assist with our events may include set up, taking registrations, talking to people at stalls, managing arts and crafts and more! Events may include things like the National Celtic Festival, the Portarlington Mussel Festival as well as smaller hosted events. Email info@bcn.org.au if interested.

Point Lonsdale Sand Monitoring Volunteer (currently on hold)

Learn how to monitor sand erosion and accretion at Point Lonsdale front beach. Volunteer at your own pace and as frequently as you wish. using equipment that is stored at a shared location for ease.
